OPDEnergy has connected the 50 MW Miramundo solar PV plant to the network, located on a plot adjacent to the El Pedroso road, in Puerto Real, in the province of Cádiz, Spain.
OPDEnergy has financed the project with the support of the European infrastructure fund, Marguerite, invested more than EUR32 million (US$35.51 million) for the construction. OPDEnergy structured debt financing of this type Plant Project Finance and has signed a PPA with Centrica for the sale of energy generated by the plant.
The facility covers an area of 111 hectares, has 133,000 photovoltaic modules, around 1,507 solar trackers to an axis and 18 photovoltaic inverters of 2.5MVA, as well as a 50MVA 30 / 132kV substation and a 1.3 km LSAT for the evacruation of energy to the general network.
Once operational, The project is expected to generate enough energy to supply for about 30,000 homes and prevent up to 40,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually into the atmosphere.
