Oita Biomass Energy LLC, a joint venture established by Mitsubishi HC Capital, Oita Gas Co Ltd, Kyuden Mirai Energy Company Inc, and Takafuji Co Ltd., has started the commercial operation of the 22 MW biomass power plant project in Oita Prefecture in Japan.
The project consumes palm kernel shells (PKS), domestic woodchips, and raw unused wood such as forest residue left in the mountains to produce energy. It can generate up to 150 million kWh per year.
Takafuji owns 36% of the biomass plant while Oita Gas and Kyuden Mirai each hold a 27% stake and Mitsubishi HC Capital of the remaining 10%.
