Network Rail has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with EDF Renewables for the output of its 49.9 MW Bloy's Grove solar photovoltaic farm located between Swainsthorpe and Mulbarton in Norfolk, UK. The site received planning consent in June 2022.
EDF Renewables UK will now collaborate closely with the local community and the municipality to plan the next steps for the solar farm's development and operation. The company will build, own and operate the solar PV project for the duration of the project, in addition to offering a GBP20,000 (US$24,370) per year community benefit fund once the site is operational.
Network Rail has committed to obtaining 100% of the non-traction energy it needs by the year 2030 from renewable sources.
