Neoenergia's board of directors has approved the construction of the Oitis wind farm complex. The complex will be located in the states of Piauí and Bahia with an installed capacity of 566.5 MW. The project will consist of 12 wind farms, two of which (Oitis 1 and Oitis 8) had 30% of their power sold in Brazil’s A-4 auction held on June 28.
The remaining 10 wind parks will have their energy for sale in the free energy market, with an average capacity factor of 50%. The capital expenditure for the projects stands at around BRL1.9 billion (US$455.8 million).
The board also approved the signing of turbine supply contract with an undisclosed first-tier provider.
Commercial operation of the facility is expected in mid-2022.
