Neoen has secured planning approval for the first stage of the 1.8 GW Goyder South hybrid power project in South Australia.
The approved first stage involves the construction of 400 MW of wind and 200 MW of solar capacity, and 300 MW/600 MWh of batteries, expected to start the construction by early 2022.
The AUD3 billion (US$2.33 billion) project is planned to have an installation of up to 1,200 MW of wind, 600 MW of solar, and 900 MW/1,800 MWh of energy storage capacity, capable of producing around 4.8 TWh of renewable energy annually. The project will be constructed in three stages.
The project is located south of Burra and north of Robertstown, where a new transmission link to New South Wales that soon to be built.
