The Independent Planning Commission of New South Wales has approved the development planning application of RES Group to build a 100 MW solar photovoltaic plant near the town of Sutton within the Yass Valley Council.

The Springdale solar farm represents about AUD120 million (US$94.3 million) of investment to the state and will be constructed near the border of the Australian Capital Territory.

Once operational, the solar farm will supply power to the National Electricity Market and can energize up to 37,000 homes.
