Neoen SA, a French renewable energy producer, has begun construction on the 40.4 MW Bjorkliden wind farm in western Finland.
Neoen owns the project with wind developer Prokon, which is part of the German Prokon Group, with stakes of 80% and 20%, respectively. The project owners have now given the wind turbine supplier, German manufacturer Nordex SE, and contractor Keski-Suomen Betonirakenne Oy notice to proceed.
The wind farm, which is anticipated to come online in the first quarter of 2024, will have seven wind turbines and will be located in the municipality of Narpes. It will provide 85% of its generation and origin guarantees to digital infrastructure company Equinix Inc. under a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
