Neoen has inaugurated its first solar farm in Italy at Arena Po in Lombardy in partnership with Equinix, under a long-term power purchase agreement to supply renewable energy to data centres in northern Italy.
The 7.4 MWp solar facility began supplying electricity to the grid in early 2026 and is now fully operational. It is projected to generate around 11.9 GWh annually—enough to meet the energy needs of roughly 8,000 people—while preventing nearly 3,300 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. The power produced at Arena Po is part of a 53 MW, ten-year power purchase agreement between Neoen and Equinix, signed in November 2024. This agreement spans a portfolio of solar projects located across northern Italy, close to Equinix’s data centres in Milan and Genoa.
The deal represents the first power purchase agreement (PPA) between Neoen and Equinix in Italy, and their fifth across Europe in recent years, bringing their total contracted capacity to 210 MW. This portfolio also includes a ten-year agreement in Finland, signed in January 2023, under which Equinix will purchase 60% of the output from Neoen’s 105 MW Storbötet wind farm.
In Italy, Neoen currently has 120 MW of capacity either operating or under construction and is positioning itself as a major contributor to the country’s renewable energy growth. With teams located in Brescia, Modena, Rome, and Milan, the company is advancing a development pipeline of around 2.3 GW in solar and battery storage projects.
