European Energy has taken the final investment decision (FID ) for a 225 MW agri-photovoltaic (agri-PV) project near Vizzini in Sicily, Italy.
The agri-PV design features elevated solar panels that allow continued agricultural activity underneath, preserving land productivity while generating renewable energy. This dual-use approach supports farming operations, aligns with Italy's renewable targets, and contributes to EU decarbonization goals. The FID follows European Energy's success in securing a Contract for Difference (CfD) through Italy's recent FERX auction, ensuring long-term revenue stability. Construction is underway, with the park expected to be fully operational by the end of 2027.
