MET Group, a Swiss-based integrated European energy company, has successfully commissioned its Ferrera Erbognone solar power plant in Italy, marking its first Agri-PV project in the region. Operational since October 15, 2025, the 10 MWp solar park, built on 16 hectares of industrial land in a traditional rice-growing area, features 16,000 solar panels and is expected to generate 15 GWh annually, enough to power approximately 6,000 Italian households. The Agri-PV system uniquely combines renewable energy production with sustainable agriculture, allowing continued land use for farming while providing economic and environmental benefits to local communities. Additionally, a 50-meter-wide mitigation area around the plant will cultivate 2,800 plants, emphasizing responsible resource management, particularly water use. The project, constructed by CMC Europe Italy SRL with MET Energia Italia as the electricity offtaker, is owned by Keppel MET Renewables, a 50-50 joint venture between MET Group and Keppel’s Infrastructure Division. This initiative aligns with MET Group’s broader strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio in Italy, where it has over 500 MW of projects under development and 424 MW of solar and wind projects operational across Europe. The Ferrera Erbognone plant underscores MET’s commitment to the energy transition and sustainable development, while Keppel’s involvement highlights its strategic expansion into Western Europe’s renewable sector through a capital-efficient, scalable model.
