Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, has received a large purchase order for 200 MW of alkaline electrolyser equipment for industrial applications from an unnamed US customer.
The client, who has been working on the project for several years, will fully fund it through private investors and has received state/local government incentives due to the proposed project's environmental benefits. In addition, the client's development efforts have resulted in a 20-year off-take commitment from local partners, as well as a 20-year electricity power purchase agreement (PPA).
The electrolyzer stacks contract is a firm order worth more than EUR45 million (US$45.61 million). Stacks will be manufactured and delivered at Nel's large-scale electrolyzer production facility in Herya from February 2023 to mid-2024. Depending on the results of an ongoing engineering study, Nel may be able to provide additional balance-of-plant equipment for the project.
