Naturgy has announced that its subsidiary Global Power Generation (GPG) has inaugurated the Crookwell II wind farm in New South Wales, located within the Australian Capital Territory, 90 kilometers from Canberra. This is the company's first project in Australia.

The wind farm has an installed capacity of 91 MW distributed between 28 turbines, and will generate 300,000 MWh of renewable electricity per year. This will supply some 42,000 homes in Canberra and contribute to the Australian Capital Territor's goal of 100% renewable electricity.

GPG was awarded the project in the third quarter of 2016 and has invested AUD177 million (US$127.4 million) in the construction of the wind farm. The energy generated is supplied to the grid under a 20-year contract at regulated tariff. In addition, the wind farm is expected to contribute an EBITDA of approximately EUR12 million (US$8.6 million) per year.

GPG is also owned by the Kuwait Investment Authority (through Wren House Infrastructure Management, its direct investment platform in infrastructures).
