Mutares has completed the acquisition of Efacec from the Portuguese State as part of the re-privatization process launched in late 2022.
Efacec, as the third acquisition and second platform investment in Iberia, will strengthen Mutares' Engineering and technology segment. Based in Matosinhos with manufacturing facilities in Maia, Efacec is a prominent Portuguese company specializing in the production and delivery of essential equipment and solutions within the energy, electrical engineering, and mobility sectors. The company possesses valuable expertise in energy transition, making it an excellent addition to the Mutares portfolio. Efacec is well-positioned to benefit from Mutares' robust platform, enabling value-enhancing improvements. These enhancements will enable Efacec to reclaim its leading market position and resume its growth trajectory. The company has already identified synergies with other Mutares portfolio companies and anticipates attractive new business opportunities.
Mutares, a publicly listed private equity holding company headquartered in Munich with offices in various European cities, specializes in acquiring medium-sized companies facing special situations. These companies demonstrate significant operational improvement potential. Mutares implements a repositioning and stabilization process before divesting them. Efacec's integration into the Mutares portfolio aligns with this strategy, reinforcing Mutares' commitment to fostering growth and operational excellence within its investments.
