Greenvolt - Energias Renovaveis SA has commissioned the 48 MW Tabua solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Portugal to the local grid. The PV farm, which is the first large-scale solar project in the country, required an investment of around EUR40 million (US$43.4 million). The Tabua solar plant spans an area of around 90 ha and comprises approximately 90,000 PV panels.
Greenvolt anticipates that the solar farm will be able to generate up to 60 GWh of renewable power each year, which will be sufficient to cater to the energy needs of roughly 60,000 households.
The Tabua solar facility is connected to the local grid via a 60-kV distribution line, which allows the generated power to be distributed to the surrounding areas.
