Mitsubishi Corporation is set to convert the 112 MW Suzukawa Energy Center Power Station, a coal-fired power plant, into a biomass energy generating facility.

The project is owned by Mitsubishi Corporation (70%), Nippon Paper Industries (20%), and the Chubu Electric Power Co Inc (10%).

Mitsubishi has reached an agreement to procure wood pellets that will be used as fuel for the power plant and has completed the arrangements for non-recourse project financing.

The project will consist of new equipment such as turbine and fuel conveyance equipment, and fuel storage as part of the conversion process.
