Liberty Utilities, a part of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., and Meta have signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for 100% of the energy and environmental attributes from the new 112 MW Deerfield II onshore wind project in Michigan, USA.
The project will be constructed in Huron County, adjacent to Liberty's Deerfield I wind facility. The project represents an investment of approximately US$200 million for Liberty.
Liberty will develop, engineer, construct, own and operate the Deerfield II wind project. The construction works began in April 2022 with the operational date targeted by 2023.
