Masdar has inaugurated the 5 MW Ile de Romainville solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Seychelles. The solar farm includes a 3.3 MW of battery energy storage and and a 33 kV system for transmitting electricity to Mahe.

The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) funded the project, which was constructed jointly by Masdar and Public Utilities Corp. of Seychelles (PUC).

Masdar installed the solar facility on the island of Romainville, which is also home to a number of wind turbines from ADFD and Masdar's Port Victoria Wind Farm. It optimized the PV installation for land use, wind turbine maintenance, and shading losses.
