The Lostock energy-from-waste facility project located in Lockstine, Cheshire has received government approval for the proposed amendment of the power output of the 600,000 tonnes-per-year capacity biomass plant.

The project, originally planned by Tata Chemicals, is currently developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and FCC Environment through a joint venture called the ‘Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant Limited’ (LSEP).

The developers proposed an amendment of the power output of the project from 60 MW to 90 MW. The project will use more efficient technology that sets to increase the steam pressure and temperature, and eventually increase in the thermal output of the facility.

In early 2019, CIP and FCC Environment has secured GBP480 million (US$600 million) funding for the construction of the plant which is due to be operational in the second quarter of 2023. LSEP will own, construct and operate the facility.
