Rosatom’s wind power division, JSC NovaWind, has announced a letter of intent (Lol) with the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund for the construction of a 100 MW wind project in the Issyk-Kul region of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The two entities have reached an agreement to initiate and execute an investment venture within the region. Presently, nine wind energy facilities are operational across three southern Russian regions. The total capacity of the company's completed wind energy initiatives has reached 1GW. Experts from the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom are committed to significantly aiding in alleviating the Republic's energy shortage. The project is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 100,000 homes and offset over 150,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
The project is also a sign of the growing interest in wind energy in Kyrgyzstan. The country has a lot of wind potential, and the development of the 100 MW Kyrgyz wind project is likely to lead to more investment in wind energy in the future.
