Kuwait has shortlisted nine consortia in the tender for the development of the 500-MW Dabdaba Power Generation Project and the Shagaya Renewable Energy Project (Phase III – Project II) to be built in Jahra Governorate. The list, unveiled by the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP), Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, includes:
The Scope of Works includes design, financing, construction, operation, maintenance and transfer of the Al Dibdibah Power and Al Shagaya Renewable Energy – Phase III – Zone 2 Solar PV IPP, with a net capacity of 500 MW of power. The Project lies within the administrative boundary of the Jahra Governorate in the west of Kuwait City, approximately 100 km from the capital city. The Project will export the output from the plant to Kuwait’s electricity grid and transmission network. The Project will benefit from a Power Purchase Agreement (PP) with MEWRE as the offtaker for a 30-year term. KAPP and MEWRE are assisted by Emst & Young as Lead & Financial Advisor, DLA Piper as Legal Advisor and DNV as Technical & Environmental Advisor.
