Korea Western Power(KOWEPO) has entered into an agreement with Thai Petrochemical Industry Polene Power (TPIPP) and Korea Gas Corporation to jointly develop a 1.7 GW gas turbine power plant project and a liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure facility in the Songkhla Chana region in southern Thailand.
The LNG facility will have storage tanks and pipelines. The project will be built in a special economic zone near the border of Malaysia.
The construction works are expected to commence in 2022 with economic life to run for 25 years. The energy generated from the project will be sold to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).
