Construction work on Jordan’s US$181 million Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)-funded 89.1 MW Fujeij wind project has been completed.
KEPCO was selected as the preferred bidder in an international tender held by the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in 2013. KEPCO signed a power sales contract in 2015, and completed financing the project in 2016.
The wind farm is installed at a site that is about 150 km (93.2 miles) south of Amman, featuring 27 Vestas V126-3.3 MW turbines. The turbine’s 126 meter rotor is equipped with light structural shell blades that ensure greater wind energy capture in areas with low-to-medium wind speeds.
Jordan's National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) buys the output of the project for 20 years.
