The AMEA Power and Philadelphia Solar have reached the financial close on their 50 MW Al Husainiyah solar project in Maan, Jordan. The project is now ready for construction and is expected to generate electricity in the last quarter next year. The project is owned 70% by AMEA Power, and 30% by the Philadelphia Solar.
The project can generate electricity enough for 42,000 households. It can eliminate up to 100,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The plant features 200,000 solar panels by Philadelphia Solar. Each panel has 330 Wp capacity that will be made in a factory near Amman.
The construction of the project is assisted by US$59.2 million through senior financing package from the Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO) and DEG - the German Development Finance Institution. Each lender provides US$29.6 million.
