Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, part of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, has announced the start of commercial operations at the Al Safawi solar plant in Jordan.
The new 66.7 MW plant is located in Safawi, a region in northern Jordan with high solar potential. The plant, which has an area of approximately 150 hectares, will produce enough energy to supply 21,000 Jordanian homes, while avoiding the emission of around 107,000 tons of CO2 per year.
The project has single-axis tracking technology to optimize its performance and more than 200,000 poly-crystalline photovoltaic panels.
