FRV Australia has announced plans to develop the 210 MWdc Rangitīkei solar project on New Zealand’s North Island. The project will occupy around 450 hectares in the Rangitīkei district and is expected to generate about 350GWh of electricity annually, enough to power 45,000 homes and avoid 35,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. The announcement also marks the completion of FRV’s joint venture with Genesis Energy, a partnership that had enabled FRV Australia’s entry into the New Zealand market. Moving forward, FRV Australia—a renewable energy developer owned by Saudi Arabia’s Jameel Energy and Canada’s OMERS Infrastructure—will carry out the Rangitikei project independently. The company is part of the global FRV network, which maintains active operations across several international markets.
In addition, the project design also includes the potential for future integration of a battery energy storage system (BESS), which will enhance grid flexibility and resilience.
