A 23 MW.1 solar photovolatic power plant located in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, has commenced commercial operations. The plant is owned by Japan Renewable Energy Corporation (JREC).
It is expected to generate 28.8 million kWh of electricity per year. This output is enough to supply approximately 8,000 households and offset around 14,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
JREC began construction of the plant in February 2017. It is the company's fourth solar photovoltaic facility to begin operating this year and adds to an operational solar portfolio of over 235 MW.
