Japan Renewable Energy Corp (JRE) has started producing power from a 46.8 MW wind farm project located in Iwate prefecture, northeast Japan.
The JRE Oritsumedake South 1 Wind Farm, which was built in partnership with Tohoku Electric Power Co Inc, comprises 13 wind turbines with a capacity of 3.6 MW each. The wind farm is expected to generate 105.65 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, enough to power 24,800 households and offset 45,700 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
The output of the wind farm will be purchased solely by Tohoku Electric Power Network Co Inc, a subsidiary of Tohoku Electric Power Co Inc.
