JP Morgan and Australian Colonial First State have launched the sale of its UK's electricity distribution utility, Electricity North West for an expected value of US$2 billion.
Several interested investors are eyeing for the company including Chinese companies State Grid Corporation of China and China Southern Power Grid, Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing, and Spanish Iberdrola.
Electricity North West Limited operates as an electricity distributor for homes and businesses in the North West England. The company owns, invests in, operates, and maintains the network of poles, wires, transformers, and cables, which carry electricity from the national grid to 2.4 million premises and 5 million customers. It operates through a network of approximately 13,000 km of overhead lines; and 44,000 km of underground cables.
