Japanese utility Electric Power Development Co Ltd, also known as J-Power, in partnership with Mitsubishi Materials Corporation and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company Inc, has commenced the operation of its 46.2-MW geothermal power plant located in Japan’s Akita prefecture.
The so-called Wasabizawa Geothermal Power Plant was built in Yuzawa city and has started its construction phase in May 2015. It was supported by Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation, which provided debt guarantee for geothermal resource development funding.
