Ilmatar Energy has announced the opening of the 211 MW Piiparinmaki wind project in central Finland.
The facility, which is owned by Glennmont Partners and Kansai Electric Power Co Inc, went online in June of 2022. Glennmont acquired the project from Ilmatar in September 2019, while Kansai Electric purchased a 15% stake the following year to become a minority shareholder.
Piiparinmaki comprises 41 Vestas turbines and is situated in the regions of Kainuu and North Ostrobothnia. A portion of their output will be sold to Google LLC under a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA), while the remainder will be sold to Vattenfall via a merchant agreement.
