Iberdrola SA has launched the construction of its 50 MW Revilla-Vallejera solar farm in Spanish region Castile y Leon, specifically in the province of Burgos.
The project consists of more than 145,300 photovoltaic panels of 345 Wp each capacity and will avoid 12,300 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Iberdrola will invest a total of EUR32 million (US$36.4 million) in the project, which is expected to be commissioned in 2022. The project includes as well the construction of underground power lines and expanded transformer electrical substations in the area.
The Burgos Revilla-Vallejera plant will produce enough energy to supply a population equivalent to 26,000 homes per year. During the peak periods of the construction phase, up to 259 workers will be involved.
