Iberdrola has inaugurated the 40 MW Aranuelo III PV solar with a 3 MW/9 MWh energy storage project located in the department of Almaraz, Extremadura region of Spain.
Ingeteam, an inverter manufacturer and storage system provider, has connected the project to the grid. It is in charge of supplying and installation of lithium-ion battery systems, solar PV inverters, transformer stations, power plant controllers, and SCADA monitoring systems. The digital control and SCADA systems enable the system to be monitored and controlled in near real-time to optimize energy generation and storage.
The Aranuelo III PV project is part of the Campo Arañuelo complex. The plant will produce enough energy to supply the equivalent of 65,000 homes a year. It will prevent the release of 41,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere annually.
