Honda Energy do Brasil Ltda. (Honda Energy) has started the expansion of its 27.7 MW wind farm in the city of Xangri-lá in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state in Brazil. The project has increased from 27.7 MW to around 31.5 MW capacity.
As part of the expansion, Vestas will supply its V136-3.8 MW model turbine.
By generating renewable energy to cover the electricity needed for the plant, Honda is expecting to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 2,200 tons annually.
Honda plans to begin the operation of the wind farm in the second half of 2020.
