Utility company Hofor has launched the repowering activities of the Middelgrunden offshore wind farm in Copenhagen and double its capacity to 40 MW consisting only of 10 turbines.
The company is partnering with R&A A/S to replace the nacelles of the existing turbines of the project with Vestas' V80 model as the preferred one.
The revamp of the project from the current capacity of 20 MW, built in 2001 in partnership with local cooperative Middelgrundens Vindmøllelaug, is supported by Danish Energy Agency (DEA) through the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program.
