Bosnian hydropower developer Hidroelektrane na Vrbasu (HEV) has held a formal opening ceremony for the Bočac 2 hydroelectric power plant, located on the Vrbas river in Mrkonjić Grad, Republika Srpska, in the west of the country.
The company commenced construction of the plant in July 2015 and completed commissioning in August this year. The plant consists of two generators with a total installed capacity is 8.76 MW.
HEV also opened a 586 kW hydropower plant, built in the same location, which will power the company's facilities in the area.
The construction contractor for the project was Integral Inženjering, while electromechanical and hydromechanical equipment was supplied by Elnos BL. The Jaroslav Černi Institute for Water Management provided design support and supervised construction.
Bočac 2 is located 7km downstream from Bočac 1, a 110 MW hydroelectric facility that was commissioned in 1981.
