Fusion Fuel and Electus Energy have entered into an exclusive joint venture agreement to co-develop a 75 MW green hydrogen project in Bakersfield, California, USA.
Utilizing Fusion Fuel's HEVO technology, the facility will be able to produce up to 9,300 tons of green hydrogen per year, including nighttime operation. With a capital investment of around EUR175 million (US$182.9 million), the final investment decision is anticipated in early 2024 and commissioned in Q1 of 2025. Once completed, the project will supply sufficient hydrogen fuel to power more than 1,000 Class 8 vehicles or buses each day.
Fusion Fuel and Electus Energy have already signed an agreement to lease 320 acres of property in Kern County, California for the development of the project. Fusion Fuel has hired Black & Veatch to do a concept analysis and is also collaborating with Cornerstone Engineering and Headwaters Solutions.
