Frazer Solar has signed a 40-year contract with the government of Eswatini, also known as Swaziland, to build a 100 MW solar photovoltaic park with energy storage located at the Edwaleni hydropower plant (HPP) in Matsapha, Eswatini, South Africa.
The project represents a total investment of about US$115 million and will deliver its output to the countries within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The project will feature about 75,000 PV panels spread in 45 ha (111 acres) of land area, expected to produce 100 million kWh of electricity annually.
The project is scheduled to be operational in 2022.
