Fortum Power and Heat Oy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a US$360 million waste-to-energy plant in Sunter, near Jakarta.
Fortum and city-owned PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) have formed a joint venture company to establish Indonesia’s first waste-to-energy power plant. The plant is expected to provide 35 megawatts of power by processing 2,200 tons of garbage daily when it comes online in 2022.
The ground-breaking ceremony and signing of the PPA for the project took place on 16 October 2019.
