Floventis Energy, through its contracted survey contractor N-Sea, has completed a series of benthic and geophysical surveys for floating wind farms in the Celtic Sea. N-Sea conducted the offshore survey using the N-Sea Spirit vessel, establishing a baseline ground model that will be developed as the project progresses.
The survey done is a preliminary step toward submitting a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for two 100 MW projects. The Llyr Developments (Llyr 1 and Llyr 2), located 31 kilometers off the coast of Pembrokeshire, will power approximately 200,000 homes once operational by 2027. Each Llyr project will have six to eight turbines, all of which will be larger than 12 MW.
The Crown Estate awarded Floventis Energy, a joint venture between SBM Offshore and Cierco, the lease agreement for the Llyr developments in July 2021, subject to a Habitats Regulation Assessment.
Boskalis has secured a contract from Ocean Winds to support the development of the 882 MW Moray West offshore wind farm located off the coast of Scotland.
