A consortium comprising EDF Power Solutions, Al Khadra Partners and OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE) has reached financial close for the 120 MW Jaalan Bani Bu Ali (JBB) Wind Independent Power Project in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, Oman.
The project is backed by a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP). Situated in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, around 440 km from the Port of Duqm, the wind farm will feature 16 turbines, each with a capacity of 7.7 MW. Commercial operations are targeted to begin in Q3 2027.
Once operational, the JBB Wind Farm is expected to produce enough renewable power to meet the annual electricity needs of more than 13,500 Omani households and help avoid over 270,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. The project supports Oman Vision 2040 and the Sultanate's objective of increasing the share of renewable energy in the national electricity mix to at least 30% by 2030, while advancing the country's Net Zero 2050 ambitions.
Masdar, and consortium partners Al Khadra Partners, Korea Midland Power Co. Ltd (KOMIPO), and OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE), have reached financial close for the 500 MW Ibri III Solar Independent Power Project in the Sultanate of Oman.
