FairWind has secured a turnkey contract for the 176 MW Vesterhav Nord and 168 MW Syd offshore wind projects at the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark. Under the agreement, FairWind will be responsible for the pre-assembly installation of 41 Siemens Gamesa’s SG 8.0-167 DD wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8.4 MW.
The wind turbines are expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023. Bladt Industries has already finished manufacturing 41 transition pieces (TP) for the project under a contract signed with Vattenfall in 2021. Each TP has a height of 22.5 m and weighs approximately 260 tonnes. Meanwhile, EEW is producing the monopiles that will be installed by DEME Group and its jack-up vessel Innovation.
Situated some 10 km off the west coast of Jutland, the Vesterhav Nord & Syd offshore wind farms have a combined installed capacity of 344 MW. Once operational, they will generate sufficient electricity to power 350,000 Danish households in total.
