European Energy has energised the Kvosted solar and battery park in Viborg Municipality, Denmark. The project integrates a 200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) with the existing Kvosted solar park (which has been operating since 2022), enabling solar power to be stored when generation is high and delivered back to the grid when generation is low—enhancing flexibility and grid stability. European Energy EPC completed the installation and integration of the batteries, electrical systems, and supporting infrastructure within seven months, and the facility has now entered a commissioning phase ahead of full operation. With a storage capacity sufficient to meet the average daily electricity consumption of around 18,000 households, the project supports Denmark’s renewable energy expansion and exemplifies how solar generation and large-scale storage can work together to improve renewable energy utilization and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The Kvosted combined solar and battery park will be formally opened on 2 February 2026.
