The European Commission has approved to provide aid to the four floating wind demonstration projects in France:
The projects will each feature a particular combination of a floater, 3 or 4 turbines, and cables.
Offshore wind farms will receive investment and operating aids. The US Department of Energy will fund US$28 million for the offshore wind projects through the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) program, Aerodynamic Turbines, Lighter and Afloat, with Nautical Technologies and Integrated Servo-control (ATLANTIS).
