ESB has announced the energisation of its first wholly-owned solar farm, Bullstown Solar Farm, located in Co Meath, Ireland.
Work on the multi-million-euro solar farm began in January 2024 on a 44-acre site. Now operational, Bullstown Solar Farm produces 8.4 MW of renewable energy, sufficient to supply electricity to over 2,000 households annually. ESB has partnered with Greencells GmbH as well as the Irish company, Powercomm Group, to deliver this project.
As part of its Net Zero by 2040 strategy, ESB aims to boost its renewable generation capacity more than fivefold to 5,000 MW, with solar complementing offshore and onshore wind, battery storage, and green hydrogen initiatives. The Bullstown Solar Farm contributes to ESB’s expanding pipeline of large-scale solar projects across the midlands, south, and southeast of Ireland.
