EDF Renewables Ireland has received planning consent for the development of the 50 MW Lackareagh wind farm on land to the east of Kilbane in County Clare, Ireland.
It could consist of up to 7 turbines and power more than 35,000 homes. The proposed site is located in the townlands of Killeagy and Shannaknock. A Community Benefit Fund commensurate with the size of the final project will be established to provide funding for local community initiatives and activities.
The project will also include access tracks, a substation, battery storage containers, a temporary construction compound, a permanent meteorological mast, underground cabling and a grid connection which links the wind farm to the national electricity grid. Following the grant of planning permission, the wind farm is expected to be constructed and operational in 2030.
