EOI issued for construction of 60 MW solar PV power plant with storage in western Niger

State-owned Niger Electricity Co. (NIGELEC) has sought consultants to carry out feasibility, environmental, and social impact studies for the construction of a 60 MW solar plant with storage in the town of Tahoua, western Niger.

The Government of the Republic of Niger (GoN) has obtained funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to cover the cost of the Project Development of Solar Power Plants and Improvement of Access to Electricity in Niger (RANA), which it transferred to NIGELEC. The Consultant’s services consist of:

  • Establishing the technical and economic feasibility of the construction of a solar power plant;
  • Carrying out the environmental and social impact study (ESIS); and
  • developing a possible Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) (if necessary) according to the standards of the Niger and the AfDB.
