MoA signed for 200 MW Solar PV projects in Niger

The Government of Niger has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Savannah Energy for the development of two solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with a combined capacity of 200 MW

The solar PV facilities will be constructed within 20 km of the cities of Maradi and Zinder, southern Niger. Each plant will have a generating capacity between 50 MW to 100 MW and is anticipated to avoid an estimated 260,000 tonnes of annual carbon emissions.

The projects are targeted for commercial operation between 2025 and 2026 once the feasibility studies of the planned solar farms are completed. Once operational the solar farms will increase the power generation in the country by 20%.
