Environmena, a leading UK-based independent power producer, has acquired Steeraway solar farm, a 30 MW (AC) fully consented ground-mounted solar development in Shrophire, UK.
The project was purchased from RE Infrastructure Opportunities Holding Sàrl, a Luxembourg-based entity managed by Zug, Switzerland–based re:cap global investors ag. This acquisition highlights Enviromena’s capability to operate in the international renewables market, reinforcing the UK’s transition away from fossil fuels and supporting the government’s ‘Clean Power 30’ initiative. Construction is expected to commence later in 2025, with the solar farm projected to supply clean energy to over 15,000 households annually, while offsetting more than 8,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. Steeraway was granted planning approval in May 2023, with grid connection targeted for late 2026.
Under the approved plans, the project will offer significant environmental enhancements, including improved landscaping, increased biodiversity, and the ongoing use of the land for agricultural grazing. These measures are designed to support local ecosystems and ensure the solar farm blends harmoniously with its rural surroundings. The Shropshire project also secured a government-backed Contract for Difference (CfD) in Allocation Round 6, guaranteeing a 15-year index-linked revenue stream. Importantly, this CfD award safeguards the project's anticipated grid connection timeline amid ongoing grid infrastructure reforms.
