Energiequelle has commissioned a 21 MW wind farm in Teschendorf in the district of Gifhorn in Lower Saxony, Germany. The project comprises five Enercon E138 turbines, with a hub height of 131 meters each rated at 4.2MW, which are expected to generate around 60 million kWh of electricity per year. This is enough to supply approximately 17,000 households with CO2-free electricity.
The construction began in June 2024 after a 12-year planning process and all turbines were connected to the grid as scheduled in October 2025. The wind farm will provide financial benefits of around €3 million to the city of Wittingen and surrounding villages under Section 6 of the Renewable Energy Sources Act and through contributions from the Energiequelle Foundation. This arrangement is grounded in Section 6 of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), which permits project developers to allocate €0.002 per kilowatt-hour generated to local municipalities. For the town of Wittingen, this translates into an annual income of approximately €120,000. Furthermore, the Energiequelle Foundation is contributing a total of €300,000 for charitable initiatives, corresponding to about €15,000 per year.
