The Nij Hiddum-Houw wind farm in the Netherlands will be replaced by the more efficient ENERCON models with permanent magnet generator technology. ENERCON is installing the high-wind turbines from the EP5 program for the energy supplier Vattenfall and Gooyum-Houw BV.
The nine E136 EP5 turbines with a hub height of 109 meters and a rotor diameter of 136 meters have an installed capacity of 4.65 megawatts each. With a total installed output of 42 megawatts, the wind farm will produce 160,000 MWh per year. This corresponds to the amount of electricity that around 46,000 households consume annually.
The first preparations in the wind farm, such as the construction of the crane parking areas, began in December. Construction is scheduled to start in the second half of 2021. The commissioning of the wind farm is planned for the second half of 2022.
